- ! Arthur Lemuel Lydiard was a waiter on the first Canadian Northern train into Van. in 1915 and in his 41 years of railroading starting 1912 worked on every line except Prince Rupert. He was the general chairman of the Canadian Brotherhood of Railway Employees and the negotiator of the first wage settlement. He used his own personal money to help support the strikers, few of which ever paid him back. Life member of St. Johns Lodge No. 4, AF & AM, Winnipeg. Born in Centreville, Kings Co. which was originally part of Cornwallis County. Likely a Baptist, and met in the Community Hall until the church was dedicated in May 1920.
