Otis, Lydia [1] |
Note |
- Lydia and her husband Abril Smith had no children and eventually became eccentric in their habits and appearance. They both had little means when they married, but by her shrewdness, they amassed considerable wealth. A story of Lydia and her sister Hannah is told of how they quilted petticoats, sewing Lydia's gold into the designs. When they heard the British were coming, they wore the petticoats, and passed through the British lines.
