In a decree dated 18 Mar 1754 for settlement of the estate of Jonathan Butterfield, late of Cambridge deceased, cordwainer, Abigail Wheeler was named among his children. Joseph m. (2) Lancaster 15 Aug 1766, Sarah Allen, b. Weston, 7 Jun 1718; d. Lancaster 14 Apr 1789, ae. 71 widow; daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah (Wright) Allen. The will of Sarah Wheeler, widow of Joseph of Lancaster, dated 11 Apr 1789 and filed 4 May 1789, mentions her brother John Allen and other relatives. Joseph lived in Concord, where all of his children were born, until about 1742 when he went to Lancaster. The will of Joseph Wheeler of Lancaster, dated 15 Aug 1778 and proved 6 Mar 1780, names his wife Sarah, and his four ch. Joseph Jr, Phoebe Wilder, Rachel Wheeler and Abigail Conqueret.
