"In the Year of Our Lord eighteen-hundred-fify-three on the fifth day of May without any previous pronouncement, because the engaged couple had produced a child, having demonstrated the required canonical demands, upon presentation of the official documents so that there was no civil or private legal objection to the marriage, in the "Branch"-Church at Vadenrod belonging to the Parish of Hopfgarten there was solemnized the marriage of: Johann Christoph Herber, son of the late citizen and linen-weaver, twenty-nine years and five days old, and Sophia Greß, illegitimate daughter of the late Katharina, widow of the citizen of Hopfmannsfeld Martin Hahn, nee Greß, twenty-two years ten months and seven days old, at which time the groom declared that he acknowledged the paternity of the child baptized with the name Dorothee born by his bride at Vadenrod on the nineteenth of February of this year.
Witnesses were the two resident citizens Johann Peter Hamel and Johann Heinrich Herber, who together with the newly-weds and myself , the Pastor, who performed the marriage, have signed this document.
