  Note	Originally of Brookhaven, Long Island, New York, removed to Blooming Grove, Orange co., New York, with their 10 children. In Title Deed is described as 'yeoman, of South Haven in Suffolk County'. He had 756 acres which cost ú1,900 sterling. The lands adjoined his son-in-law, Captain Jonathan Tuthill. This land , under the terms of his Orange co. will, was divided among his various children. His home was built large enough to serve as a typical rural hotel and tavern, situated on the main road leading from Blooming Grove south to New Jersey. In this waysaide home, the Brewsters entertained General and President George Washington on sweveral occasions. Another visitor who was later to become President was John Adams, who stayed with the Brewsters in 1777. Adams recorded in his diary his pleasure in meeting people of such high character, and related that John Brewster was between sixty and seventy years of age and said John described his father (Daniel Brewster) as dying as dying at the age of 80 and his grandfather the Reverend Nathaniel of Long Island, at 95. Adams went on to say : 'The manners of this family are exactly like those of New England people. A decent grace before and afte meals...' In 1763, John Brewster permitted his home to be used for the first Town Meeting to be held in Blooming Grove, and shortly after , appears as Senior Clerk and Town Clerk. Thereafter he held other town offices, continuing a public service career that commenced in his young manhood on Long Island. He was aRevolitionary patriot, with his signature recorded together with other Orange co. men who supported the revolution, on a copy of the 'Articles of Association'. Ref: BHB 27/9
