  Note	did not appear in any of the tax lists but was in French and Indian War for the year 1757 in Captain Waterbury's 6th Company from Stamford together with Jacob and Samuel Palmer, enlisting on March 15, 1757. He also listed in Captain Hobby's Company of Horseneck for the year 1762 but did not join, and also Captain Hait's Company of Stamford March 16, 1764 from which company he deserted. He was mentioned in his father's will dated February 17, 1773 together with his son Silas and received a distribution of this estate February 7, 1776. At this time he was probably living in Dutchess County for February 18, 1775 Silas Palmer of Charlotte Precinct deeded to "my brother Denham Palmer of Greenwich all of my interests in my father's estate David Palmer of Greenwich deceased." The 4th Regiment of the Continental Line in the Revolutionary War had Silas in the Company of which David Palmer was Captain. (New York in Revolution by Roberts, 1897, p. 52) The Muster Rolls of Captain Swartout's Company at Fort Montgomery on April 15, 1776 had Silas Palmer, yeoman born in Connecticut age 30 years, enlisted March 1776. Silas appears 1790 U.S. Census in Washington and in Phillipstown, both in Dutchess County, NY with only one female. Perhaps he and his son were thus indicated. He had only one son - Silas. An advertisement appeared in York Gazette on February 29, 1769 by Mary Moore of Morristown, NJ in which she asked for return of an indentured servant Silas Palmer ae. about 25 years, 5'6" or 7" tall, light hair, blue eyes, born in New England and supposed to have gone that way. There appears no further record of Silas. He does not appear again in Dutchess County.
